Top management shall set an energy policy that suits the organization's purpose; gives a framework within which objectives and energy targets are set and reviewed; commits to making available the information and resources needed to meet them; commits to meeting the legal and other requirements that apply to energy use, consumption and efficiency; commits to continually improving both the EnMS and energy performance; backs the purchase of products and services that are energy efficient and affect energy performance; and backs design work that takes energy performance improvement into account. The policy shall exist as documented information, be communicated within the organization, be made available to interested parties where suitable, and be reviewed and updated from time to time.
