Clause 5: Attributes of organizational resilience – ISO 22316

ISO 22316 5.2: 5.2 Shared vision and clarity of purpose

Resilience is stronger when purpose, vision and values are clearly expressed and understood, so that decisions at every level are made with clarity. The organization should give priority and resources to: making its purpose, vision and core values clear to every interested party so that strategy has direction and coherence and decisions are clear; making sure individual goals and objectives support the purpose, vision and values and that people are committed to them; regularly monitoring and reviewing whether its strategies remain suitable and consistent with its purpose, vision, core values and objectives; accepting that it may need to reconsider, and where necessary change, its purpose, vision and core values as things change inside and outside it; and looking for and championing fresh, innovative ideas that help it reach and develop its strategic objectives.
