An organization is more resilient when it can foresee change, plan for it and respond to it. It should show, and build on: the capacity to keep meeting its commitments consistently as circumstances change and to adapt how it operates; the capacity to absorb the effects of sudden, unexpected incidents and adapt to them; and readiness to respond to change or, where necessary, to shape it. It should give priority and resources to: staying alert to situations that are likely to bring change; adapting when needed without significant harm to its products and services; committing to protection, performance and adaptation while remaining able to change focus without giving up its vision and core values; and making sure its management disciplines are strong and effective enough to cope with change.
