ISO 22000:2018 4.1: Understanding the organization and its context
The organization identifies the internal and external issues that matter to its purpose and influence whether its FSMS can deliver its intended results, and it identifies, reviews and updates information about them. Issues may be favourable or unfavourable and can concern the economic, social, cultural, market, competitive, technological and legal environment, food defence and deliberate contamination, food fraud, cybersecurity, and the organization's own performance and knowledge. Amendment 1:2024 adds that the organization decides whether climate change counts among its relevant issues.
