The organisation puts together its adaptation plan from varied knowledge, information and data within the frame of its existing policies, strategies, planning and decision processes, sets its adaptation priorities, and makes adaptation part of its policy, strategy and planning documents. It identifies a range of possible adaptation actions that answer those priorities including the gaps in adaptive capacity, judges which actions suit its needs and capability using decision methods fit for its context and for climate change, adopts adaptive management so that new knowledge and the lessons of past decisions inform future ones, states in the plan the resources needed to carry it out, develops the adaptive capacity needed to close its capacity gap, and engages key decision-makers and interested parties through the planning process where appropriate.
