IFS Wholesale / Cash & Carry Version 2 4.8: Cleaning and disinfection

What does 4.8 require?

Risk-based cleaning and disinfection schedules are in place and followed, stating aims, responsibilities, the agents and how to use them, the areas covered, frequencies, what to record and hazard symbols where needed. Cleaning is recorded, its effectiveness checked and any corrective action documented. Bulk transport containers for liquid, granular or powdered unpackaged goods are cleaned in a way that fits the product, includes hoses, valves and strainers, leaves surfaces clean and microbes low enough for the intended use, and is evidenced by records or certificates, with results told to cleaning staff who are trained in the procedures. Only qualified, regularly trained staff clean; schedules are revised when conditions change; cleaning tools have defined uses and are kept so they cannot contaminate; safety data sheets and instructions are held on site and known; tools and chemicals are clearly labelled and stored safely; and contractors' cleaning duties under 4.8 are written into their contracts. Plus module: chemicals for production and treatment are stored securely with access restricted to trained users, and cleaning never harms the product.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 1 controls across 1 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
