The farm keeps records of its energy use, such as invoices showing consumption, and the producer (or the QMS manager, where relevant) understands which activities and farming practices use energy and where on the farm this happens. Where there are no meters, as with small producers, estimates are acceptable. In producer groups, the evidence may be held at QMS level.
