The biodiversity plan is put into practice to protect biodiversity, for example through integrated pest management; limiting how artificial night lighting affects migratory birds and nocturnal species; seasonal fallow; shelters for beneficial predators; habitat left near fields or greenhouses; buffer strips beside aquatic ecosystems and separating production areas; building soil health and soil biodiversity through rotation, reduced tillage and erosion control; optimising and reducing agrochemical and fertilizer use; and measures that protect species. In producer groups, the evidence may be held at QMS level.
