The farm has a written biodiversity plan, which may start as a generic plan adapted to the farm. It reflects local legislation and the farm's actual situation (for example open field, greenhouse or vertical farming) and has at least these sections: a baseline describing biodiversity at the start; the measures that protect and enhance biodiversity from that baseline; monitoring, with a summary of results; and adjustment of the measures in light of monitoring. Although the producer's legal responsibility ends at the farm boundary, the plan looks at the wider landscape and encourages joint action with other stakeholders through collaboration, projects or networks. In producer groups, the evidence may be held at QMS level.
