The manufacturer lodges the EU-type examination application with one notified body of its choice, with a written declaration that no other notified body has the same application, the technical documentation and representative specimens. Afterwards it must inform the notified body holding the documentation of every modification to the approved type that may affect conformity or the certificate's validity conditions; such modifications need an addition to the certificate. The manufacturer keeps a copy of the certificate, annexes and additions with the technical documentation for 10 years after placing on the market.
