EU ATEX Directive (Directive 2014/34/EU) 13.1a: Categories M 1 and 1: EU-type examination with production quality assurance or product verification

What does 13.1a require?

Equipment of groups I and II in categories M 1 and 1, and where necessary the devices of Article 1(1)(b), must go through EU-type examination by a notified body (Module B), combined either with conformity to type based on quality assurance of the production process (Module D) or with conformity to type based on product verification (Module F). Protective systems follow the same route or unit verification (Article 13(2)).
