Licence applications for FC Column 1 firearms and related commodities to OAS members require an FC Import Certificate or equivalent official document from the importing government covering the quantities and types, with the specified content (applicant, certificate number, issuing country and agency, dates, importer and end users, technical descriptions and quantities, expiry), submitted with the initial application, not altered, valid to its expiry or four years; licences carry a rider requiring a current certificate on file before each export. For other countries that require a government import certificate or permit for 0A501 firearms or 0A505 ammunition, the exporter must obtain and keep it before applying, state its number on the application (or note that none is required); a BIS consignee statement is not a substitute.
