South Australia replaces H2P3: ground moisture must not cause undue dampness or deterioration of building elements or unhealthy or dangerous conditions or loss of amenity, and barriers against moisture transfer from the ground must have high resistance to moisture penetration, to damage during construction and to degradation by dissolved salts. SA H2D4(2) accepts masonry weatherproofing to AS 3700 or AS 4773 Parts 1 and 2 only (not Housing Provisions Part 5.7); SA H2D4(3) excludes metals and bitumen-coated metals of AS/NZS 2904 clauses 7.2 and 7.3 as damp-proof courses; SA H2D4(4) allows, in low rainfall intensity areas on listed site classes, a damp-proof course 15 mm above finished paving, concrete or landscaping, or 0 mm where protected from the weather by a carport, verandah or similar.
