In New South Wales, NSW Part H6 replaces Part H6 and works with BASIX (Building Sustainability Index) certificates under the planning legislation. NSW H6P1: thermal insulation must be installed in a manner and with characteristics that support efficient energy use for heating and cooling, and thermal breaks must be installed between framing and external cladding to the degree necessary. NSW H6P2: the building must be sealed against air leakage to the degree necessary for its use, internal environment and location. NSW H6P3: domestic services and their distribution systems must have features for efficient energy use suited to the service, location and energy source. H6V2 does not apply in NSW; NSW H6V3 verifies sealing at not more than 10 m3/hr.m2 at 50 Pa (with mechanical ventilation and appliance ventilation where 5 or less is achieved). Deemed-to-Satisfy route: Housing Provisions Part 13.2 (fabric), Part 13.4 (sealing) and Part 13.7 (services). Where the BASIX certificate was issued under Version 3.0 or earlier, or is an Alterations and Additions certificate, NCC 2019 Volume Two Amendment 1 NSW 2 applies instead.
