Australia Model Code of Practice: Safe Design of Structures 3.1c: 3.1 Research hazards from laws, statistics, alerts, similar designs and workshops

Information to identify hazards and assess and control risks can come from WHS and building laws, technical standards and codes; industry injury and incident statistics; hazard alerts and reports from authorities, unions, employer associations, specialists and professional bodies; and research and testing on similar designs. Techniques in the code include initial discussions on purpose, injury profile and common hazards such as high job demands and hazardous manual tasks, pre-design preliminary hazard analysis through workshops with users and with those who will build and maintain it, on-site assessment of similar structures with feedback, research on similar structures and workshops with specialist consultants, and deciding which hazards are in scope.
