Section 4: Step 3, control risks – Australia Model Code of Practice: How to Manage Work Health and Safety Risks

Australia Model Code of Practice: How to Manage Work Health and Safety Risks 4.2d: 4.2 Implement controls with procedures, training, supervision and maintenance

New controls usually change how work is done, so they should be supported by a safe work procedure that describes the task, hazards and how to perform it safely; training, instruction and information that cover the work, risks and controls, require workers to demonstrate competence (an acknowledgement alone is not enough) and are understood by all workers and by customers or visitors where relevant; supervision matched to risk and worker experience; and maintenance with a schedule of routine checks set when the control is introduced.
