Section 4: Step 3, control risks – Australia Model Code of Practice: How to Manage Work Health and Safety Risks

Australia Model Code of Practice: How to Manage Work Health and Safety Risks 4.1d: 4.1 Use administrative controls only for the risk that remains

Risks that remain after higher controls must be minimised with administrative controls so far as reasonably practicable. These are work methods and procedures that reduce exposure, together with the information, training and instruction workers need: safe operating procedures, training and support for managers and workers on physical and psychosocial risks, behavioural policies, limits on exposure time and warning signs. Some administrative measures are needed to make higher controls work, such as following safe procedures when using equipment.
