Locating and disconnecting all essential services is among the most important parts of planning before demolition. Essential services means supplies carried in pipes or lines of electricity, gas, water, sewerage, telecommunications, fuel, chemicals and refrigerant. The principal contractor has to make sure, as far as reasonably practicable, that essential service risks on site are handled through the risk management process in Chapter 2.
