Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work 3.1b: 3.1 Excavation contractor appointed principal contractor for site preparation

Where major excavation is under way before building starts, the commissioning person may appoint the excavation contractor as principal contractor for the site preparation stage and later replace it with a building contractor once that stage ends. While so appointed, the excavation contractor must carry out all the principal contractor duties.
