Australia Life Insurance Code of Practice (CALI Life Code) 2.32-2.36: Consumer credit insurance: clear information, explicit consent, refund window and financing disclosures

What does 2.32-2.36 require?

Before a customer buys consumer credit insurance from the insurer or through a representative or distributor, they receive clear information on the cost including interest on premiums, the limits on key benefits, the period of cover and any end date that differs from the credit product. CCI is sold only with the customer's explicit consent and may be cancelled with the full premium returned inside 30 calendar days. Where the premium can be financed through the loan, an option to pay without financing is always offered, the customer is told interest will be charged, and initial repayments are shown with and without the premium (relaxed for card, line of credit and overdraft products charged regularly). The statutory deferred sales period applies.
