Australia Life Insurance Code of Practice (CALI Life Code) 2.1-2.2: Design products for a genuine need in the target market and review the target market every three years

What does 2.1-2.2 require?

New products must meet a real need of the consumers they are designed for, must not carry a blanket mental health exclusion in the standard terms (underwriting exclusions based on reasonable actuarial data remain possible), and must be likely to match the target market's usual goals, finances and needs. The target market is reviewed at least every three years. These clauses do not apply to group policies.
