Australia Life Insurance Code of Practice (CALI Life Code) 2.12-2.14: Documented sales rules that prevent pressure selling and sales to those who cannot claim

What does 2.12-2.14 require?

The insurer keeps clearly documented sales rules so that its salespeople and authorised representatives sell lawfully and without unacceptable practices such as pressure selling, and takes reasonable steps so that any distributor does the same. The rules set out what customers are told about premiums (including stepped versus level), features, benefits, exclusions, limits and the cooling-off period; how to recognise, and refuse to sell to, a customer unlikely ever to be eligible for a primary benefit; when selling must stop once a customer indicates no interest; and how agreement to buy is recorded.
