Where ordinary hours in a week are above or below 38 and pay is averaged to avoid fluctuating wages, a credit builds up for every day on which ordinary hours worked exceed the daily average. No credit accrues for a day of absence, except when the absence is jury service, workers compensation, a public holiday, or annual, long service, paid personal/carer's, paid compassionate or paid training leave. For an absence of part of a day (other than those types of leave), the employee accrues a share of the credit in proportion to the part of the day they attended.
