For continuous shiftworkers, ordinary hours average 38 a week including crib time and may not exceed 152 in 28 consecutive days. They work when the employer requires, subject to these limits: a shift is at most 8 ordinary hours including crib, or up to 12 if the employer and the employee or majority agree; apart from the regular change-over, no one may be made to work two shifts within 24 hours; each shift includes 20 minutes of crib, counted as time worked; and no one may be required to work more than 5 hours without a meal break.
