For time worked beyond or outside the ordinary hours, or on a shift that was not rostered, permanent shiftworkers on continuous work receive 200% of the ordinary hourly rate; those on other shiftwork get 150% for 2 hours then 200%. A casual shiftworker gets 250% on continuous shiftwork, or 187.5% for 2 hours then 250% on other shiftwork. These rates do not apply to time worked by arrangement among the employees themselves, to effect customary shift rotation, or on a shift an employee is moved to at short notice instead of being stood down where the Act would let the employer deduct pay; but where a relief worker gives less than 8 hours' notice of absence and the employee who is not relieved must keep working on their rostered day off, that employee gets 200%. The rates replace the shift premiums.
