In commercial and industrial installations, 30 mA RCDs protect final subcircuits rated up to 32 A that supply socket-outlets, lighting, directly connected hand-held equipment, and directly connected equipment presenting increased shock risk (external influences, workshops, processes), located at the originating switchboard or, with mechanical protection to 3.9.4, beside the socket-outlet (Ruling 1 limits that protection to the parts of the route exposed to damage). Exceptions: repairs, circuits where tripping causes greater danger, essential or high-leakage equipment on restricted marked outlets, and separated supplies; other circuits up to 32 A should be considered.
