Circuit-breakers in a row open in one direction unless off is obvious; fuses and breakers are grouped and not mounted behind panels (with limited exceptions); bars terminate conductors securely with terminals identifying each circuit's active and neutral; looped neutrals stay continuous if a device is removed; equipment is identified; and fire-protective measures apply to switchboards serving safety services and in egress paths.
