Every final subcircuit in domestic and residential installations, including common areas and external lighting of multiple residential installations, has 30 mA RCD protection installed at the switchboard where the subcircuit starts; common-plant circuits of multiple residential installations that serve nothing inside a living unit may instead follow the non-domestic rules. ELV and separated-supply circuits are excepted.
