Service pipes, conduits and wiring are either hidden within walls, ceilings, floors or plinths, or mounted on brackets giving at least 25 mm clearance from the adjacent vertical surface and 100 mm from adjacent horizontal surfaces (Figure 3.3). All penetrations are sealed to keep the structure intact, and no services run through the recessed toe space under plinths or equipment.
