Walls in food preparation areas are finished in one or more of: glazed tiles, stainless steel or aluminium sheet, laminated thermosetting plastic sheet, polyvinyl sheet with welded seams, or similar impervious material fixed directly to the wall (polyvinyl sheet is unsuitable for very hot or high impact areas). Wall and plinth junctions with floors are coved and feather edge skirting is not allowed. Where two wall finishes meet, the junction does not form a ledge for dust or grease. The wall surface is smooth and even, with no buckling, ledges, exposed screws, picture rails, cracks, crevices or open joints.
