World Bank Group General EHS Guidelines 2.4: 2.4 Chemical hazards

Workplace exposure to chemicals is prevented and controlled. Employers assess chemical hazards, communicate them by labels and marking to national and international requirements and safety data sheets in an easily understood language available to exposed workers and first-aid staff, train workers in safe work practices and use of the information, and apply specific controls for air quality (exposure limits and ventilation), fire and explosion hazards (including flammable materials, defined fire hazard areas and ignition source rules) corrosive, oxidising and reactive chemicals, and asbestos-containing materials, with monitoring of exposure.
