World Bank Group General EHS Guidelines 2.3: 2.3 Physical hazards

Physical hazards are controlled by design and procedure: rotating and moving equipment is designed or guarded to prevent entrapment and unexpected start, noise exposure stays within limits for the working environment, electrical hazards are managed including no-approach zones for high-voltage lines, eye hazards by guards and eye protection, vehicles and traffic by operator licensing, medical surveillance, back-up alarms, speed limits and rights of way, work at height by guardrails, trained use of ladders and scaffolds and fall prevention or arrest systems, illumination by minimum levels and ergonomics, and hot work, vibration and heat stress by specific measures.
