World Bank Group General EHS Guidelines 1.2: 1.2 Energy conservation

Facilities run an energy management programme that identifies and regularly measures and reports principal energy flows at unit process level, prepares mass and energy balances, sets and reviews energy targets, and applies efficiency measures to process heating, process cooling and refrigeration, steam and heat distribution, compressed air, motors, pumps and fans, HVAC and lighting. Opportunities are directed by system heat and mass balances, for example insulating pipework and valves, returning condensate, maintaining steam traps, controlling process temperature and reducing losses in compressed air distribution.
