Western Australia Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 447-457: Demolition and refurbishment involving asbestos: review the register, identify and remove asbestos first, and respond to emergencies

What does 447-457 require?

Before a structure or plant is demolished or refurbished, whoever manages or controls it must review the asbestos register, give a copy to the person carrying out the work, identify asbestos likely to be disturbed and ensure it is removed before the work starts (so far as reasonably practicable), and the person carrying out the demolition or refurbishment must obtain the register and identify and remove asbestos accordingly; where a structure must be demolished urgently because of an emergency, the regulator must be notified and the risks managed. Similar duties apply to domestic premises and to plant.
