Western Australia Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 435-446: Asbestos health monitoring, training and control on use of certain equipment

What does 435-446 require?

A business must provide health monitoring for workers doing licensed asbestos removal, other ongoing removal or asbestos-related work with an exposure risk, before starting and at intervals, paying the costs, giving the practitioner the information required, obtaining and keeping the report for 40 years and giving the worker a copy. Workers who may be involved in asbestos removal or asbestos-related work, or likely to be exposed, must be trained to identify asbestos and handle it safely, with the training recorded and kept for five years. High-pressure water spray and compressed air must not be used on asbestos or ACM, and power tools, brooms and similar equipment only with controls that prevent release of fibres.
