Where protective clothing used for an asbestos-related activity and likely to be contaminated is not contained and disposed of under rr 315 and 316, the employer must arrange for it to be laundered at a laundry equipped for asbestos-contaminated clothing. When arranging laundering, the employer must ensure the clothing is contained so no fibres escape, with the container decontaminated outside before leaving the work area and marked as containing asbestos before it goes to the laundry. Penalty for each: 100 penalty units (natural person) or 500 penalty units (body corporate).
