Part 4.4: Asbestos – Victoria Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017

Victoria Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017 r211: r 211 Employer must determine employee asbestos exposure when in doubt

Where an employer has reasonable grounds to be unsure whether exposure has gone above the asbestos exposure standard, the employer must arrange an assessment of how much airborne asbestos an employee is breathing at work. The trigger is doubt on reasonable grounds, so the determination (usually personal breathing zone monitoring) must be done rather than assumed away. Act compliance: ss 21 and 23 (r 7).
