An employer must eliminate risks from an asbestos-related activity as far as reasonably practicable. Where that is not reasonably practicable, it must reduce the risk as far as reasonably practicable by isolation, by engineering controls, or both; then, if risk remains, by administrative controls; and then, if risk still remains, by giving employees at risk personal protective equipment. PPE supplied must include protective clothing and respiratory protective equipment suited to the activity, and both must be correctly fitted.
