An employer or self-employed individual commissioned to do work who intends to do limited asbestos removal work must tell the commissioning person about it before it starts. Whoever commissions asbestos removal work, or has been told of proposed limited removal, must before the work starts inform all employers and other occupiers of premises in the immediate area and the adjacent areas. An employer so informed must, before the work starts, pass the information to its employees in those areas. At domestic premises, the employer or self-employed individual doing the removal is treated as the commissioning person. Penalty for each: 60 penalty units (natural person) or 300 penalty units (body corporate).
