An unexpected situation is either a sudden, unexpected event (including work needed because of non-routine equipment failure) that may expose people to airborne asbestos fibres, or an essential service unexpectedly breaking down, such as gas, water, sewerage, electricity or telecommunications that needs immediate repair so the service can continue. In such a case the licence holder must notify the Authority in writing, with the Schedule 13 information, no later than 24 hours after starting removal. Later changes to notified information must be reported to the Authority in writing without delay beyond what is reasonably possible (except supervisor changes). The Authority may vary this by a licence condition. Penalty for each: 60 penalty units (natural person) or 300 penalty units (body corporate).
