As far as reasonably practicable, a Class A licence holder must: enclose the area where Class A work is done to stop airborne fibres escaping; have the enclosure smoke-tested with a smoke-generating device before removal starts to find leaks or other defects; and use a wet method. A wet method means soaking or fully saturating the asbestos with water or another wetting agent, or spraying it, but never with a high pressure water jet (see r 216). The enclosure smoke test does not apply when glove bags are used (r 289). Act compliance: ss 21, 23 and 24.
