A person must not transport asbestos. The ban does not cover moving asbestos or asbestos waste to be disposed of, moving non-disposable contaminated protective clothing to be laundered, or transporting asbestos that was fixed or installed on 31 December 2003 in a vehicle, aircraft, ship, building, structure or plant. Transport of asbestos waste is also regulated by the Environment Protection Authority. The r 217 exclusions apply. Penalty: 100 penalty units (natural person) or 400 penalty units (body corporate).
