Victoria Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 s74: s 74 Direct work to cease where there is an immediate threat

Where a health or safety issue involves work posing an immediate threat to anyone's health or safety, and the nature of the threat and level of risk make the s 73 process inappropriate, either the employer or the DWG's HSR may, after the two have consulted, direct that the work stop. While work is stopped, the employer may assign affected employees to suitable alternative work. Any party may then require an inspector to attend under s 75.
