Employees eat, drink or use tobacco products only in designated areas where exposed food, clean equipment, utensils and linens, unwrapped single-service items and other protected items cannot be contaminated; a food employee may drink from a closed beverage container handled so as to protect hands, container and exposed food and clean items. Food employees with persistent sneezing, coughing or a runny nose causing discharges from eyes, nose or mouth do not work with exposed food or clean items. An impermeable cover such as a bandage, finger cot or stall on the wrist, hand or finger of a food employee working with exposed food is covered with a single-use glove.
