UK HM Treasury Sustainability Reporting Guidance 2026-27 (FReM) 5.4-5.6: TCFD-aligned disclosure: provide climate-related financial disclosures in the annual report in line with the TCFD Application Guidance on a comply-or-explain basis, consulting that guidance on which recommendations apply, with the emissions element handled under Chapter 2

What does 5.4-5.6 require?

Reporting on climate adaptation gives assurance that long-horizon policies will hold up against shifting weather, extreme events and rising seas. Each central government body is required to make TCFD-aligned disclosures in its annual report and accounts, following HM Treasury's TCFD Application Guidance and on a comply-or-explain basis, and should use that guidance to decide whether, and which of, the TCFD recommendations apply to it. The emissions element of the TCFD metrics and targets recommended disclosure (b) is dealt with in Chapter 2.
