Texas State Fire Marshal Rules (28 TAC Chapter 34, Subchapters C, E, F and G) 34.621: White service labels after every service, layered to keep a history, with yellow or red labels and notices where the system is deficient

What does 34.621 require?

Every service visit ends with a fully completed service label fixed inside or outside the panel cover, or somewhere permanent; the licensee's signature certifies lawful service. Where the service clears every condition on a yellow or red label, that label's colour and date are noted on the service label and the coloured label removed. Where service reveals non-compliance with the standards adopted when the system was installed, a fault or an impairment, the owner or representative and the local authority are notified and the appropriate yellow or red label is added. Service labels stay for at least two years, after which only a licensed employee or agent of a registered firm may take them off (regulators may clear excess labels whenever they choose); they are white with black lettering, about three inches square, adhesive but removable, attached by the top half-inch over the previous label so the history can be read, and carry the do-not-remove inscription and the words SERVICE RECORD in capitals of at least 10-point bold type, the servicing firm's name, address, telephone number and certificate number, the service date with the licensee's handwritten signature and licence number, the services performed, and whether the work was general service or the correction of red or yellow label conditions.
