A level 2 regulated contract must be written, dated and signed by or for each party and contain: the parties' names (the contractor's as on its licence); the licence number; a description of the subject work; all plans and specifications, including those needed to comply with required development approvals; the price or its calculation method with the contractor's reasonable estimate; the start date on site or how it is set; the practical completion date or how it is set; a statement of each applicable statutory warranty; and a conspicuous withdrawal-right notice. A fixed price goes prominently on the first page of the contract schedule; otherwise the calculation method and allowances are stated in the schedule; where the price may change, a warning and a brief explanation must also appear prominently on that first page. No one other than the actual contractor may be named, or be mistakable for, the contractor. Regulation requirements also apply. It has effect only if written, dated and signed.
