OSHA Safety and Health Regulations for Construction (29 CFR Part 1926) 1926.1430: 1926.1430 Training

The employer must deliver the training listed here. Power lines: employees named in 1926.1408(g) and in 1926.1410(m) are trained in the 1926.1408(g) topics. Signal persons: anyone to be assigned as a signal person who does not yet meet 1926.1428(c) is trained in those areas. Operators: each operator is trained under 1926.1427(a) and (b) on safe operation of the equipment they will use; operators exempted by 1926.1427(a)(2) (derricks, sideboom cranes, equipment rated 2,000 pounds or less) still get training on safe operation of their equipment; and every operator learns to raise a boom slightly off its support to check whether the boom hoist brake needs adjustment on friction equipment (or needs repair on other equipment where the brake cannot be adjusted), and the maker's emergency procedures for stopping unintended movement where available. Competent and qualified persons are trained on the subpart's requirements for their roles. Everyone who works with the equipment learns to stay away from holes, crush and pinch points and the work area hazards of 1926.1424. Operators and other employees authorised to start or energise equipment or use its controls, such as maintenance staff, are trained on the 1926.1417(f) and (g) procedures for tag-out and start-up. Administration: the employer must evaluate each trained employee to confirm understanding, provide refresher training when conduct or an evaluation shows it is needed, and provide all Subpart CC training free of charge to employees.
