Where the employer chooses its own assembly and disassembly procedures in place of the manufacturer's, those procedures must accomplish three results: stop any part of the equipment moving dangerously without intent or collapsing; give every part of the equipment adequate support and stability; and position the A/D workers so they are as little exposed as possible should the equipment, or part of it, move unexpectedly or collapse. A qualified person has to write the procedures. This section is the test that 1926.1403(b) refers to when an employer relies on its own procedures, so the employer must be able to demonstrate that its procedures meet it.
