Hand signal charts must be posted either on the equipment itself or in a conspicuous location near the hoisting operations. The chart is the Standard Method set out in mandatory Appendix A to Subpart CC (Standard Hand Signals), which 1926.1419(c) makes the required form of hand signalling and which the definition of Standard Method in 1926.1401 points to. Appendix A consists of the Standard Hand Signals chart itself. Posting the chart lets operators, signal persons and crews confirm the agreed Standard Method signals at the point of work.
